This is a new segment on the blog that we'd like to call "How We Would Decorate"! Basically, we are going to present ourselves with a design problem and we will fix it using our combined knowledge on architecture and interior design. Of course, we are also going to discuss how we can decorate the spaces with our many collections of pillows.
This week, we'll tackle the most common problem: plain white rooms. Plan white rooms are those rooms that are painted with white from floor to ceiling, and have the most pale floors one can imagine. Usually, one can find this kind of room at apartments and newly-renovated spaces. It isn't a surprise that there are so many white rooms these days, since people are opting for the minimal designs than the complicated ones. In this HWWD, we will address questions of those who want minimal spaces, and of those who want to splash color onto those white spaces.
Go monochrome if you're aiming for that minimalist vibe. If you want it to be extra modern, go for whites and blacks! The white and black give off a sense of subtle sophistication, and it works for both male and female too.
It doesn't matter how many patterns of black and white you have, as long as you keep them even. Meaning, keep the ratio of big patterns to small patterns equal. Keep in mind that sizes of pieces matter, as well. Take this tip from us: a big rug will immediately fill up space, so be sure to find the best rug to make your space look cozy, but not too small.
FOR THE COLOURIST
Is that the right term? Anyway, for those who'd rather look at vibrant color, we have tips for you, too. What you want to do first is to cover up those walls. Choose big pieces such as the wall decoration below to instantly add something interesting to your bare walls. Our preference is to go with something neutral for walls so that you can do whatever you want with the rest of your furniture. Then, pick another strong color and buy a few pieces of those in varying shades. After that, buy neutral pieces that go with your strong base color such as the black and white pillows and nude pillows in the photo below.
Don't pick too many colors or else it will look like someone spilled buckets of paint over your room! Stick to the nude and then add your few splashes of color. It will look sophisticated.
